Laser for Melasma and Pigmentation

Uneven pigmentation, sun spots, and melasma can be treated with Q-switch, ResurFX, or IPL, with the right choice depending on the depth and type of pigment involved.

Mechanisms

  • mademel-icon
Q-switch — part of the Nd:YAG module, delivers extremely short pulses that shatter pigment into smaller particles, which the body then clears naturally; effective for stubborn or deeper pigment
  • mademel-icon
ResurFX — a fractional non-ablative laser that remodels the skin at a deeper level, improving pigment, tone, and texture together
  • mademel-icon
IPL — broad-spectrum light absorbed by melanin in the skin, breaking up pigment so it rises to the surface and flakes away as part of the skin's natural renewal process

Post-Procedure Expectations

Treated pigment typically appears darker immediately after treatment before gradually flaking off over the following 1–2 weeks. Some temporary redness or a sensation similar to a mild sunburn is common for a few hours after treatment. No downtime is required, though diligent SPF use is essential during the healing process.
